Kojagiri Poornima
The annual festival of Kojagiri Poornima is celebrated at Shree Bhagwati Devasthan of Pernem. Traditionally Dussehra is celebrated to honor the goddess Laxmi, Durga and Saraswati.it is also regarded as a celebration of victory of Lord Rama over the ten headed demon, Ravana. The Goddess Bhagwati is also regarded as one of the avatars of the goddess Durga.So the dussehra festival is celebrated in most of the Bhagwati temple at various places in Goa and Maharashtra.It is a belief that the entire celebration should commence at night so that it should not see the light of the sun. |
